In detail
Cast solid brass with a brushed, hand-finished surface, 18 inches tall, under an off-white linen drum shade. Dimmable from full down to a low glow on an inline dial.
The base is cast rather than plated, which is where the weight comes from. Four pounds on a five-inch footprint means it stays where it is set when the cord is pulled.
The brass is unlacquered. It warms slightly under a bulb, is cool again a few minutes after switching off, and darkens where hands touch it most.
