Solid brass backplate and curved arm, projecting 9 inches from the wall, under a small off-white linen shade. The shade tilts through 45 degrees and holds its angle by friction.
The tilt is the reason to choose it. Aimed down, it puts light on a book rather than across a ceiling, and it stays where it was left rather than drifting back over an evening.
Hardwired to a standard junction box. Damp rated, so it also works in a bathroom.
